Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP)

Each year, the European Commission issues a general call for proposals for projects to be funded.

Europe is undergoing a major transformation to become a world-leading knowledge-based society. This means that knowledge, and the innovation it sparks, are the EU’s most valuable assets, particularly as global competition becomes more intense in all sectors. It implies that high-quality primary, secondary and tertiary education are as important as ever. In addition, ongoing vocational training and learning have to renew constantly the skills base of EU citizens in order to equip them to handle the challenges and ever-evolving technologies of today.

The European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme enables people at all stages of their lives to take part in stimulating learning experiences, as well as helping to develop the education and training sector across Europe.

With a budget of nearly €7 billion for 2007 to 2013, the programme funds a range of actions including exchanges, study visits and networking activities. Projects are intended not only for individual students and learners, but also for teachers, trainers and all others involved in education and training.
